John Deere Snowblower
A John Deere snow blower will to many be seen as something of a lazy luxury but there are others who see it as a matter of life or death. All over the Northern States and all of Canada have a fair dosing of snow each year and this equipment has proven to be a life saver for some. Maybe not literally but certainly earnestly.
The John Deere Company is renowned internationally for its range of Grass management and agricultural equipment. The range of Snow equipment is no less important to them with products for most domestic and commercial applications. Right across the range there is evidence of the legendry robustness and quality associated with the Company.
The range starts with the Model 522E Single Stage Snowthrower. This is powered by the beefy Briggs and Stratton four stroke snow series motor that delivers 5.25 ft-lbs of torque. It is important to note that these engines are specifically designed and engineered to start and run efficiently in the demanding conditions of winter. The key features include an auger propelled drive system, a 90 degree chute rotation facility, easy storage, light weight and a 22 inch clearing width. As you would expect there is a 2 year consumer warranty.
A John Deere snowblower for every application
The other snow blowers are all wheel driven and either ride on or walk behind. Here is one of the most outstanding in our view. The 1338PE that is powered by the mighty Briggs and Stratton 1650 Professional Series™ snow engine. There are 6 forward gears and 2 reverse and the specification at all levels is impressive. The clearing width is a massive 38" (96cm) and the traction is held to the ground by massive really grippy tyres as you would expect. The specification is very impressive and this machine is the top of the walk behind range. As you would expect, a John Deere Snowblower has been designed to attach to their tractors. The clearing width goes right up to 74 inches. There are snow blowers that fit either to the front or to the back of the tractor. The choice depends on the application because the manoeuvrability of the tractor is the defining issue. These units will be supplied by one of John Deere’s distributors.
John Deere recons that it takes about an hour to attach it to a tractor unit and set it up correctly, frankly we think it is more likely to be closer to one and a half hours. However the time spent setting up will be worth the effort as the productivity of the whole unit is astonishing. Imagine blowing away a 74 inch wide swathe at 10 miles an hour.
Plenty of John Deere snowblower attachments
Actually the John Deere name for these pieces of equipment and attachment is Snow Throwers abut nobody that we know called them that so the name Snow Blowers will stick for some time yet. Anyway Jon Deere is not the only manufacturer of snow blowers.Right up there is Poulan, they have a range of 13 walk behind snow blowers and must be considered serious competitors to John Deere in this sector. Incidentally they call their equipment snow throwers as well.
So if and when you find yourself looking to purchase a snowblower there are few manufacturers to choose from so it will not be a difficult job, Poulan and Husqvarna are the two well-known makers. If you end up buying a John Deere Snowblower you can be certain that they will provide an excellent after sales service usually through one of their distributor outlets.
